Did you breed them or just have one as a pet?
My EEC subsidy means that my haggis farm is doing very nicely thank you. Once they're neutered they make delightful pets.

lately i have noticed that there are a lot of tourism ads coming from the uk leading me to believe that american tourism dropped off in the uk.
is it the weak dollar or do you think that something else is involved?
more ad money to spend?

i have a family member with a special birthday coming up; but he is a jw.
we have no connection other than internet anymore.
i'm really wanting to wish him well on his birthday.
It didn't really bother me to be honest - however as a kid it always reminded me of what I was missing out on.

during talks, the audience just don't think.
the speaker can shoot off some stat, a comment, but "where is the evidence for what you just said?".
the speaker can give a really great story about how a drug addict became a jw, how it saved his life, but do they think: "yes, that is one neg example in the world, but what about the positive examples?
Negativity always suits their agenda. Particularly annoying is when they gloss over the billions of practicalities associated with the Paradise Erf, and lamely say ' Jehoober will see to it. '

any of you in the uk remember watching a cutting edge documentary on jehovahs witnesses, entitled, "the end is nigh?".
it would have aired around late 1997.. it was about the lives of two couples, one a fitness instructor's courtship with a brother who was a programmer, and the other about a sister who left the truth and came back, eventually getting baptized.. the congregation involved was the abingdon congregation, located in oxford.
I remember this programme very clearly! One of the couples had car problems, something to do with an exhaust falling off or something. This was declared to be 'the work of Satan', you know the type of thing....
More like the work of Skoda....
The couple in the car were hilarious - grown adults being treated like kids who couldn't be trusted. Reminded me of of the time I was round at one of my kid witness pals. Her older brother and his girlfriend were also in the house at the time. Her mum had to go out, so we weren't allowed to leave the house as said brother and girlfriend were not to be left alone. It was actually quite funny as we said we would go into the garden for a while...if the price was right, naturally.

i was reading the thread about the prospect of the wts releasing some new light shite about a prophecy to fulfil the fact that they are not growing and it brought back a really horrid memory, unintentional i know but horrid nonetheless.. the co visited the congregation were i was from and after the obligatory song and prayer, it was announced that the co needed to speak to us urgently on a local needs issue.
he came onto the platform his look was sombre and melancholy (nothing new there then).
he said he had an announcement from the governing body and that their had been a law passed that day which banned jw's in the uk that the usa and other world governments had notified the wts that they were to follow suit shortly.
This scenario was spouted at our old KH as well. As everyone has said, the only result was to spread dread and fear.

as a jw, when i'd find out someone got disfellowshipped, i'd shake my head and think, "what a selfish person.
choosing immorality (it had to be immorality) over jehovah.
i hope i never make such bad choices.
In my old cong. there was a sister who was disfellowshipped, but she kept attending meetings faithfully none the less. In fact she rarely missed one. She was treated as an outcast, and I remember thinking as a child, ' ooh she's disfellowshipped, got to stay away'.
Truly dreadful and appalling way to treat another human being. I think most of the congregation wished she would just disappear to save them the embarrassment.
